familyPlantConifer.jpgARBOR DAY TREE CARE PRESENTATION AND TREE GIVE AWAY  Friday May 6, 2011, 6:30 PM Lost Rivers Seniors Center

The Butte County Extension Office, Lost Rivers Senior Center, Idaho Forest Products Commission and a number of other organizations have  teamed up to provide free, one-year spruce seedlings.  After the presentation on tree care and planting, approximately 200 seedlings will be distributed.  Learn more about it on the Horizons Blog.

 

REGULAR CHAMBER MEETING   Tuesday, May 10th, 2011, 8:00 AM Deli Sandwich Shop

The Chamber will hold their regular monthly general meeting beginning at 8 AM at the Deli Sandwich Shop.  The spotlight on business will be the Moore Community Association and the upcoming 2nd Annual King Mountain Car and Tractor Show.  Bill LaBounty, chairman of the MCA will be with us to explain the advertising and promotion for the show which is expected to draw between 5 and 10,000 people to the Lost River Valley.

 

We will also be covering plans for a breakfast booth at the Car Show and continue planning for Atomic Days.

j0195422BUTTE CHAMBER ACADEMIC RECOGNITION LUNCHEON  Tuesday, May 10th, 12:00 PM Butte High School Library (Change of Venue)

The Butte County Chamber of Commerce will honor the 5 top academic seniors from Butte High School.  In addition, we will recognize two students who exhibited the greatest academic dedication, as selected by the teaching staff and an influential teach as selected by the honored academicians.  See the Chamber Blog for the full story.  The program will be held in the Butte High School Library, rather than the BIC due to a conflict with moving the courtroom back to the Memorial Building Annex.   Lunch will be deli sandwich, chips and a beverage provide by the Chamber.  Chamber members, family members and guest are invited.

Abelardo%20Web.jpgREGIONAL ECONOMIC MODEL Monday May 23, TBA

Dr. Abelardo Rodriguez of the University of Idaho Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology has been cooperating with rural economic development professionals, county extension faculty and citizens to build a county and regional economic models for the three central Idaho counties.  Dr. Rodriquez will be in Arco on Monday, May 23rd to review the first iterations of the county and regional model.  He will also be spending some time in Lemhi and Butte Counties.  The models are being developed in cooperation with local users so that they will have a greater understanding of the modeling process and the interpretation and manipulation of the data.  If you are interested in participating or learning more about SAM Economic Models, call the Extension Office.

Chamber Officers and Carrie Allen, Manager of the BIC continue to respond to inquiries.  Interesting ones for this month was to locate a flight instructor and to provide a detailed map of the county for a bicycle race or ride….
